Rendering listed only in Final layout, not Shared in Sitecore Presentation Details

Open the item in Experience Editor. Under Presentation tab check the Layout. Unfortunately Sitecore's default is Final Layout which means that when you add presentation to an item it adds it into the Final layout, not into Shared. Which is a terrible idea for multilingual sites. Final applies only to the current language.
