Had a trial version of sql server 2017. It quietly expired. Had to install a licensed version but was unable to restore or attach databases.
1. On SQL server instance new right click properties\
Select Advanced page, set under Containment the property value to True
2. When restoring in the restore window in the left click Files and tick 'Relocate all files to folder'
